On March 4th, the conference “The Intermodal of Júndiz: A Logistic Opportunity for the enterprises in Alava” took place, organized by the Provincial Council of Álava and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Álava at the Júndiz industrial park. The aim of this meeting was to present and highlight the infrastructures of Júndiz, designed to enhance intermodality, improve the competitiveness of the companies located in Alava, and serve as a key tool in their sustainability strategies.
The event featured the participation of Saray Zarate, Deputy for Economic Promotion and Sustainability, and Fernando Bacigalupe, Zone Director of Adif. The Júndiz-Vitoria logistics node is part of the Trans-European Transport Network and is considered a basic strategic node for the integration of the national transport and logistics system, both due to the volume of traffic it manages and as the starting point for the cross-border section ‘Vitoria-San Sebastián-Bayonne-Bordeaux’.
The Júndiz terminal will have four tracks, 740 meters long each, two of standard width and two of Iberian width, along with a fifth maneuvering track of the same length. The expected operational capacity is eight trains daily, four inbound and four outbound, and up to 50,000 intermodal transport units (UTIs) per year. It will feature a logistics area of 35,000 square meters.
